Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about taking exams, earning certificates, and verifying credentials on CIU Certify.
Taking Exams
How do I take an exam?
Browse the available exams on our homepage. Click Take Exam on any exam that interests you. You'll be asked to provide your name, email, phone number, and country — this information appears on your certificate. Once registered, the timed exam begins immediately with multiple-choice questions.
Are exams timed?
Yes. Each exam has a clearly displayed time limit — typically ranging from 15 to 60 minutes depending on the topic and number of questions. A countdown timer is visible throughout the exam. When time expires, your answers are submitted automatically.
Can I pause an exam and resume later?
No. Exams are designed to be completed in one sitting. The timer continues to run even if you navigate away from the page. We recommend ensuring you have a stable internet connection and uninterrupted time before starting.
Are there any prerequisites?
No formal prerequisites are required for most exams. Each exam lists its difficulty level — beginner, intermediate, or advanced — so you can choose one that matches your skill level.
Scoring & Results
How is scoring calculated?
Your score is the percentage of questions you answered correctly. Each question is weighted equally. For example, if an exam has 20 questions and you answer 15 correctly, your score is 75%. Results are calculated and displayed instantly upon submission.
What is the passing score?
The passing score varies by exam but is typically 60%. The required passing percentage is clearly displayed on each exam's page before you begin, so there are no surprises.
What if I don't pass?
You can retake the exam as many times as you need. There is no limit on attempts and no waiting period between attempts. Each attempt is independent — your highest score will be reflected on your latest certificate.
Certificates
How do I receive my certificate?
Upon passing, your certificate is generated instantly with a unique Certificate ID. You can print it directly from the results page or share the verification link. The certificate includes your name, exam title, score, institution branding, and the unique verification ID.
How do employers verify my certificate?
Every certificate includes a unique Certificate ID (e.g., CERT-XXX-XXXX). Employers can visit our verification page, enter this ID, and instantly see your authenticated certificate details — including your name, exam, score, and issue date. No account or login is required for verification.
Can I add my certificate to LinkedIn?
Yes! We encourage it. Under LinkedIn's Licenses & Certifications section, add the certificate name, issuing institution (as shown on your certificate), and include the verification link. This allows potential employers to instantly verify your credential.
Do certificates expire?
Certificates do not have an automatic expiration date. However, we recommend re-certifying periodically, especially for rapidly evolving fields like technology and compliance, to demonstrate current knowledge.
Technical & Support
What devices are supported?
CIU Certify works on any modern device with a web browser — desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. No app download or special software is required. We recommend a stable internet connection and a screen large enough to comfortably read questions.
What happens if I lose connection during an exam?
The exam timer continues regardless of connection status. If you reconnect quickly, you can resume where you left off. We strongly recommend a reliable internet connection before starting any exam.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. Your personal information is encrypted and stored securely. We do not share your data with third parties. Certificate verification only reveals your name, exam details, and score — no contact information is ever publicly exposed.
